If you’re wondering why so little activity lately, we had been planning a surprise visit to attend the birthday party for Linda’s mom. So as not to spill the beans, we kept a pretty low profile on social media and the blog. Linda almost let it slip when she was on the phone with her mom, trying to sound like we were in Grenada when we had actually already caught a flight to Florida!

We cleaned out the fridge, left Troubadour on a mooring in Secret Harbor, and flew to Florida to visit my sister Lindy in early May. She treated us to a day at Universal Studios and the Cirque du Soleil, and we enjoyed a week relaxing with her, playing with Aries in the pool, and reading our accumulated mail.

All too soon, it was time for our flight to Wisconsin, and catching up with friends prior to the birthday party, which was a big success. Since then, we’ve been bumping between Milwaukee (friends, and Linda’s sister Mary) and Lake Geneva (Linda’s parents and more friends). We traveled to the Dells and spent a weekend with her parents in their RV, when we weren’t in the Ho-Chunk casino. Linda & her mom held their own on the slots, Chris lasted less than two hours in the poker tournament before being sent home by a guy with two pair – a pair of red aces and a pair of black aces. Oh well, that’s why it’s called gambling.
Cousin Rose set up for Chris to play his ukulele in one of the local watering holes for happy hour and then filled it with family. The music was very well received until the Blackhawks game started, which quickly drew the crowd’s attention to the TVs instead.

Chris is headed back to the boat soon, while Linda will remain in WI for a while to attend the annual family reunion and her high school reunion later in the summer.
